Dr Ben Piller
BDS (Syd), MDSc (TAU)
Dr Piller was raised in the Eastern Suburbs and is delighted to be practising specialty orthodontics in his local community. Upon visiting the practice, you will notice his devotion to providing a professional, modern and friendly environment, along with his love of surfing and technology.
Dr Piller has enjoyed 15 years in the dental profession. After completing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney, he then practised as a general dentist for five years, before embarking on further specialty studies at Tel Aviv University, completing a Master in Orthodontics.
Dr Piller always endeavours to provide the highest level of patient care, comfort and treatment outcomes. His treatment philosophy is a simple one: To achieve facial balance, harmony and to create beautiful smiles.
Dr Piller appreciates that each patient is unique and presents with their own biological gifts. He works closely with his patients to understand their treatment and lifestyle goals, which will be carefully considered when developing a customised treatment plan. Having an open approach to communication, Dr Piller will clearly and candidly walk you through the process and provide you with a realistic timeframe to achieve a favourable result.
Dr Piller is committed to continued education. He attends conferences and gives lectures both locally and abroad, staying at the forefront of the profession. He holds an annual seminar for the local dental community to update them on the latest advances in the field. Dr Piller is a registered Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is also a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and the Australian Dental Association.
Outside of the practice, Dr Piller enjoys spending time with his family and friends, discovering new restaurants, travelling and keeping fit. His favourite recreational activities are surfing, swimming and snowboarding. You may even see him catching a wave at Bondi Beach sometime.
Practice Manager and Treatment Coordinator
Having started as a dental nurse 26 years ago, Angie has built a great deal of knowledge in all areas of the dental and orthodontic profession.
Angie’s experience and professionalism are second to none, and her passion is obvious in her role as practice manager and treatment coordinator.
Communication is of the utmost importance to Angie, which is shown in her delivery of information and education to our patients. She has a friendly and warm nature and enjoys building relationships with the patients and families at Eastern Suburbs Orthodontics.
Being a people person, Angie takes a great deal of pride and satisfaction in being a part of the patient’s journey, supporting them throughout and celebrating the beautiful smiles we achieve together. Angie works closely with Dr Piller and the team to ensure that Eastern Suburbs Orthodontics provides a friendly, professional and pleasant environment for our patients.
Being an active and health-conscious person, she enjoys regular F45 workouts, along with spending time in the garden and walking her dogs. She also has a love for music… You may even hear her singing along to tunes in the clinic from time to time.
Oral Health Therapist
Kalia studied for her Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney. She graduated as an oral health therapist with dual qualifications in dental hygiene and dental therapy. During her time at university, she excelled academically and was the recipient of the Dental Hygienists' Association of Australia (NSW Branch) Prize, making her the highest achieving student in dental hygiene.
Since graduating, Kalia has completed numerous professional development courses to update her skills, both clinically and professionally. Kalia completed the adult restorative course for oral health therapists to broaden her skillset and include restorative treatment planning and procedures for patients over the age of eighteen. She is passionate about oral health promotion and prevention for patients of all ages.
Along with working in private practice, Kalia also teaches in the faculty of dentistry at the University of Sydney as a clinical educator. To assist her with teaching, she completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Studies.
Kalia’s work ethic and persistence in striving for perfection assists Dr Piller in achieving superb treatment outcomes. She has a caring nature and a gentle approach, especially towards children, which helps make the patient experience at Eastern Suburbs Orthodontics a pleasant one. She believes this nature comes from her mother, who is a childcare educator.
Kalia is registered with the Australian Dental Board (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’ Association (ADOHTA).
Outside of work, Kalia enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband, family and friends.
Oral Health Therapist
Salo is one of our gentle and caring oral health therapists, who joined Eastern Suburbs Orthodontics in 2019. She helps create beautiful smiles alongside Dr Piller, as well as making sure your oral health is in tip-top condition. Salo is exceptionally skilled in all aspects of orthodontic treatment with over 20 years of dental experience. She loves working with children and aims to make their orthodontic appointments as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.
Salo graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Oral Health). She has worked in private practice, public health and rural indigenous health, as well as a clinical educator, teaching oral health students at two Australian Universities. She has also held various voluntary committee positions on the Dental Hygienist Association of Australia NSW Branch for over 10 years. Salo regularly attends continuing education to keep up to date with the latest and greatest developments in orthodontics.
Outside of work, Salo loves spending time with her family and friends, cooking up a storm and making jewellery. The team has been fortunate to sample many of her delicious baked goodies.
